Google owned Social Network site Orkut has flooded with ‘Bom Sabado’ scraps.A large number of users are randomly flooding their friend’s scrapbooks (Orkut’s equivalent of Facebook Wall) with the following message:

It is a question raised globally the risk factor of Social Network websites. With million of users, these sites also attracted the attackers. The sites, Twitter and Facebook are the most commonly attacked websites, replacing government websites, which came out on top in last year, according to report from a web application firewall vendor.Reports of malware and spam rose 70 percent on social networks in the last 12 months, the security survey reveals.

The real danger is not taking it seriously and safeguarding against it – which means instituting policies in usage of social networking sites. It’s not those applications themselves that the attackers are into, it’s what is at the core of your company’s network that they’re after. And if social site represents an opportunity, hey whatever works right?
