After Reading my blog post, so many people requested for the solution to read Malayalam in their Androild Mobile ‘Smart’ Phones.
Here you have the solution.
Android phones are supporting APK(Android Application Package) file formats.Here also we have to add the UNICODE APK fonts to read malayalam. But you cannot download these fonts from Android Market. So enable Non-Market Applications. These fonts are working on flip-flop setup.
To Enable Non Market Applications : SETTINGS->APPLICATIONS->UNKNOWN SOURCES(Check this field)
STEP 1
Download the following fonts in your mobile phone.( Or download in your PC and copy to SD card).
STEP 2
Goto Download location and install Fonts(Applications)
STEP 3
Goto Font Settings ( Settings-> Display->Font Style).
Thats all…. If everything goes smooth, now your malayalam fonts were installed in it. You can see the fonts in List. Select the installed font and press OK button. Restart your mobile phone and you can read malayalam unicode websites..
(Advance Bail:Due to Android fragmentation some fonts will not be loaded in certain smart phones. And also letters also may be not in proper ways. I recommend, use Akshar Unicode formats. You can display English as well as Malayalam fonts. And also it supports almost all indic Languages. Some smart phones willnot support Unicode fonts. Hence you have to root the device)
