World’s largest chip maker giant ‘Intel’ has introduced second generation core processors in the market.

It was just a year ago that Intel released its first generation Core processors, so what exactly makes this platform different from Core i3,i5 and i7? Well, a few things. The 2nd generation Intel Core vPro processor family offers intelligent, hardware-assisted security features that help us quickly deploy security patches across PCs, remotely unlock encrypted drives, and manage data security settings, even when the PC is off. We can help protect our sensitive data with optional Intel® Anti-Theft Technology (Intel® AT).  It provides intelligent hardware-assisted security and manageability features, as well as improved multitasking and performance that adapts to users’ needs to increase productivity.

The 3 Major features included than  the previous generation Core processor Family are

  1. Visibly Smart: Intel’s new processor graphics delivers enhanced visual features focused on the areas where most users are computing today:  HD video, 3-D, mainstream gaming, multi-tasking and online socializing and multimedia. To obtain and view video faster, Perlmutter demonstrated hardware accelerated video editing using the architecture’s dedicated silicon for media processing, which allows users to quickly convert video to other formats. The  chips also come with Intel Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX). AVX delivers improved performance, rich functionality and the ability to better manage, rearrange and sort data. A new 256-bit instruction set accelerates floating point intensive applications such as digital photo editing and content creation.
  2. Turbo Boost Technology: Intel has optimized Intel® Turbo Boost Technology to provide even more performance when needed. Intel Turbo Boost Technology  automatically allows processor cores to run faster than the base operating frequency if it’s operating below power, current, and temperature specification limits. Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 is activated when the Operating System (OS) requests the highest processor performance state
  3. Hyper Threading Technology: Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology (Intel® HT Technology)¹ uses processor resources more efficiently, enabling multiple threads to run on each core. Intel® HT Technology increases processor throughput, improving overall performance on threaded software. With Intel HT Technology multimedia enthusiasts can create, edit, and encode graphically intensive files while running background applications such as virus protection software without compromising system performance. The technology deliver better performance to processor and can complete tasks quicker.

How to identify second generation Core 13,i5 and i7 processors from first generation?
